March-A-Spot

Have you ever wanted to learn how to spin a flag, twirl a baton, or play any instrument you wanted? During the Golden Eagle Marching Band’s last practice of marching band season you can! Tau Beta Sigma came up with a fundraiser in which we can make this possible. The sisters sell tickets and we raffle off the leadership positions. Anyone can be a drum major, a band manager, a feature twirler, or even the band director…the list goes on. When we have everyone chosen for each spot, we get set and perform the halftime show. Needless to say, it is the best part of practice and it is very amusing as well. We have a lot of laughs because you see a color guard member trying to play a trumpet or an instrumentalist spinning a flag. The second run through is when everyone in marching band switches instruments and equipment. Sarah Butler, a freshman and MC of TBS, said she had a lot of fun and has never done anything like that before. Every year, the freshmen are always unsure of how this is organized, but once they participate, they absolutely love it. Not only is this a good fundraiser, it is a fun time and one of many things that you will remember for the rest of your life.
